About Coda Terminals

Coda Terminals are the result of Icelandic ingenuity in the form of a new industry that will have a significant positive impact on the climate. Coda Terminals will receive carbon dioxide (CO₂) from parties who wish to permanently mineralise CO₂ generated by their production.

Why Coda Terminals

Global temperatures are rising due to excessive human-caused CO₂ emissions. The burning of fossil fuels must be stopped and replaced with renewable energy sources in order to achieve climate goals. We also need to reduce hard-to-abate CO₂ process emissions, for example from the production of cement, steel and aluminium.

How does it work?

StatIcon
1
Transportation of CO₂

CO₂ will be transported to Iceland with specially designed ships, but it will also be possible to mineralise CO₂ captured directly from the atmosphere and from domestic industry.

2
Coda Terminals in Iceland

Reception hubs and storage facilities for CO₂ will be built - The goal is to minimize the environmental changes.

3
CO₂ mineralisation with proven methods

We will use the Carbfix technology to permanently mineralise CO₂ using our proven and safe method.

4
Positive impact on climate change

Coda Terminal will demonstrate that Carbfix's technology can be scaled up significantly to achieve a greater positive impact for the climate.
